Special Session: Advanced Communication and Signal Processing Technologies for Smart Agriculture and Aquaculture
Smart agriculture and aquaculture are becoming commonplace among farmers. Farming operations become digitalized and data-driven, enabling advanced decision support, smart analyses and planning. Smart farming can be used not only for controlling and optimizing individual operations, but also for analyses and planning of the whole farming system thanks to the advent of technologies, such as the Internet of Things (IoT), sensors, drones, Artificial Intelligence (AI), cloud and edge computing, etc.
This Special Session (SS) targets the original works that explore advanced communication and signal processing technologies for smart farming. This includes using the smart farming tools to assess, evaluate, and control the sustainability of innovative agri-food systems (innovative technologies, digitized operations and production systems, autonomous systems, etc.). Works that describe the sustainability of integrated farming systems (digital farming concepts connected with IoT technology providing automatic input/output for the production systems) are also welcome. The covered topics include, but not limited to, the followings:
- AI-empowered internet of drones for smart farming: Technology, practices, and future directions
- Edge computing foundations and applications for smart farming
- Yield prediction and optimization in smart farming using IoT and AI technologies
- Farm automation using cloud and edge computing
- AI-enabled sensor-based precision agriculture and smart farming
- Crop monitoring and pest surveillance using AI and IoT technologies
- Advances in computational intelligence techniques for AI-empowered smart farming
- Innovations in cloud and edge-enabled technologies for AI-empowered smart farming
- New trends in AI-empowered internet of drones for real-time exploration of fertilizer management, pest management, plant health management, weed detection, and pest control in smart agriculture
- AI-empowered internet of drones for livestock monitoring in smart agriculture
- Advances in AI and IoT technologies for the protection and management of natural resources and biodiversity
- AI-empowered edge computing for precision agriculture
- AI for harvest/post-harvest
- Cooperative farming solutions using AI-empowered IoT, and edge computing technologies
- AI-empowered aerial drones and autonomous vehicles for smart farming
This SS is supported by the ASEAN IVO project titled “Resilient Artificial Intelligence of Things (AIoT) Green Energy System with Real-time Solution for Effective Aquaculture (REAS-SEA)”
